The wine

San Francesco is a no-frills purist, made from old Primitivo vines that provide little, but better and more intense juice. Deep, dark cherry fruit, blackberries, currant, some cinnamon and pepper, silky tannins, highly charming. The palate shows the juicy ripe fruit in full width. A wonderful companion for savory dish and spicy pasta, great with aromatic cheese, strong in character and noble.

The vineyard

Our vineyard is located in Puglia, on the Salento peninsula, the heel of the Italian boot, where bulky, dry red wines with great aromas thrive. The climate is typically Mediterranean with warm, dry summers and cool winters – ideal for red grape varieties. Here, in the province of Taranto, the grapes of our San Francesco mature in an old vineyard with typical primitivo vines planted as bushes.
